Life Goes On In Iraq: Sabean Mandeans’ Golden Baptism Festival

Sabean Mandeans are considered one of the oldest religions in the world. Sabean is from the Aramaic word “saba” which means baptized. This is one of the basic rituals of the religion, being dipped into water to be baptized. Mandeans is from the Aramaic “yada – ada” to know, meaning that they are the baptized people who know about God.
